This is the main floor with high ceilings and generous windows. The grand salon is a relatively formal room about 25 ft square and can accommodate a sizeable party. It has an early nineteenth century grand piano very elegant, but alas no longer properly tuneable. To compensate there is a midi Hi-Fi system. There is a flat screen HD TVin this room for use with a DVD/Bluray player and Internet connection.

The library (40ft x 15ft) with windows on three sides is cool and light a lovely peaceful room, it is a favourite with many of our visitors. It contains around 3000 books: almost entirely in the English language but covering a wide range, including fiction (a lot of classics but plenty of crime and thrillers as well), history, biography, travel, poetry, games and puzzles and children's books. There is also a good selection of local guides. Wi-fi operates from this room which reaches most parts of the house and there is a wi-fi printer. There is a rather splendid and mildly eccentric lavatory in the round tower room opening off the library.

The two principal bedrooms are on this floor. The master bedroom has a superking-size bed and ensuite bathroom with bathtub, separate shower cubicle, WC and bidet. This pretty room, which looks out over the park, has some fine eighteenth century decorative plaster-work. The main guest bedroom, which looks towards the village, also has an ensuite bathroom. It has a king-sized double and a single bed
